FETO LIVES!

Feto by Alvaro Buendia Hands down, the ugly baby award goes to Feto. So ugly in fact, he made the cover of the February issue of ImagineFX, a glossy magazine dedicated to promoting digital art in the realms of science fiction and fantasy entertainment. Thank the gods this carnivorous foetus isn’t real — he sure looks real nasty!

Feto is the brainchild of Alvaro Buendia, a recent graduate of 3D Animation here at VFS, where he quickly developed a knack for scaring the pants off us. You might’ve seen our Animation Open House poster a couple weeks ago — that bad boy was a Buendia invention as well.

The industry has caught on to his talents, too, apparently. Buendia is one of the artists chosen for ImagineFX magazine’s “Workshops” section, where industry pros explain how they created their work. No doubt, Buendia’s a pro, even his student work is stunning. Look at Feto’s gaping maw, distended umbilical, and icky skin — this alien baby is given four gloriously sick pages of full colour in which Buendia explains how ZBrush, Photoshop, and massive commitment to his own creativity got Feto from conception to completion in one year at VFS. Check out the issue!!
