It’s Friday — time for Mp3 take-out or delivery. Last time we dropped some music it was by the award-winning VFS student Colin Janz. This time, it’s a track by Vancouver’s indie pop-rock sweethearts The Rose Alarm.
Formed in 2006 by the punky siren Pamela Viana on vocals and her husband Ricardo on skins, The Rose Alarm came down to the VFS Sound Design campus not long ago to record a few tracks that grew out of their collaboration, including this one here called “Your Right is Wrong.”
Students Joshua Bandy, David Kizale, and Daniel Nicolier had three days to record three songs, and with the help of their instructor Greg Mark, learned how to patch the cables, mic the band, and put to tape a complete studio session. Once the band was done, the three students had six hours to do a final mix. That’s what it’s like around here in Sound Design: as fast-paced as the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle. Take a listen!
