The Writing program is revamping the way it puts on its student-written Sketch Comedy shows… now, instead of casting different shows 3 times a year, the cast will come from a set company of players: the VFS Sketch Company!
Writing instructor and Sketch Show director Morgan Brayton noted: “Having a company of actors to work with will give our writers a taste of what it’s like writing for a consistent cast — just like on a TV sketch show. It will also allow our performers to bond as a troupe and develop their comedic talents.”
Call for Auditions
We are looking for 20-25 comedic performers to be part of the VFS Sketch Company. Each year we present three live sketch comedy shows: one in December (rehearsals November/December), one in April (rehearsals March/April) and another in August (rehearsals July/August). As part of the VFS Sketch Company, each performer is guaranteed at least one show per year (will probably perform in more). Performers will be paid a $100 honorarium per show.
Please prepare:
one sketch scene (we will provide options to choose from) – 3 MINUTES
AND
one original character, showcased however you see fit – NO LONGER THAN 3 MINUTES
Please bring photo and resume.
Email VFS Sketch Comedy Producer Robert Woolsey at rwoolsey@vfs.com for an audition time, location, and sides.
