Writing student (and soon-to-be graduate) Rosely Cortés Bolio is going to the 2008 Cannes Film Festival! Rosely has been selected, along with 49 other aspiring filmmakers from around the world, to participate in Adobe‘s innovative Reel Ideas Studio program. During the festival, she will work with fellow participants from around the world, creating a film in less than two weeks. The top film created will be screened at Cannes!
Want to help Rosely in her exciting (but expensive, ocean-crossing) adventure? She’s having a fundraiser! Here are the details:
Saturday, April 12
7:00pm ’til late
Yaggers (West Pender @ Richards)
Downtown Vancouver
Tickets are $10, which gets you in, as well as a free beer (courtesy of Granville Island Beer). Tickets are available from Rosely herself — just email her for details.
As Rosely says in her Facebook Event Cannes 2008: “This is a dream I’ve always had. I may not win a Palme d’Or right away, but this is definitely a start.”
Congrats also to Film grad Casey McClurken who’s participating in Reel Ideas, Digital Design grad Ozgur Abaci, who’s been selected to work on one of 9 teams creating Motion Graphics pieces, and Writing student Calvin MacLean, who has been selected to participate in the American Pavilion program!
