Recently, Vancouver’s industry was buzzing with the news that Louise Clark, CTV’s former Head of Development, had secured a first-look deal with NBC Universal through her new company, Lark Productions.
This agreement assures that NBC Universal will have the first option to consider Lark’s television projects for cross-border development. There’s a solid list of Canada-U.S. precedents leading up to this, including CTV/ABC’s Defying Gravity (which featured VFS Acting alum Will Vaughan).
The big news for us, though, came in the announcement that Film Production graduate Erin Haskett Thorn had been named Lark’s Vice President of Development. With previous experience as the Director of Development for Infinity Features and Paperny Films, she’ll be taking on a lot of responsibility in her new position.
Erin was kind enough to offer her thoughts on this big move in her career:
“Working as the VP of Development for Lark gives me the opportunity to work with and learn from one of the best producers in this business, and one who I feel brings a lot of integrity to our industry,” Erin says.
“This new venture allows me to be a part of a television company from the ground up while having access to meaningful resources and amazing talent in both the Canadian and international marketplace.”
We couldn’t be happier for Erin and can’t wait to see the work she’ll be bringing to television screens on both sides of the border.
Congrats, Erin!
