With a tailless whip scorpion on his face.
Hey, whatever you gotta do to get that sound.

That’s VFS student Gordon McGladdery, who won a scholarship to Sound Design for Visual Media last year in a competition we ran in conjunction with SoundCloud.
Gordon’s been podcasting regularly throughout his entire year at VFS – entertaining insight into the week-to-week life in the intense one-year program.
But this latest episode is something really special, as Gordon finds himself in the middle of the rainforest in Peru for a recording trip. Quote of the day: “So it turns out I have a knack for putting my hand too close to things that are poisonous.” The podcast runs the gamut from the (harmless) arachnid mentioned above to the magic of recording audio above the jungle canopy at dusk.
Let’s listen in, shall we?
