It’s the beginning of the end for Fringe, FOX’s cult sci-fi series whose fifth and final season premieres tonight.
If you didn’t already know, Fringe films in Vancouver – in fact, a photo on the show’s Wikipedia entry shows the series shooting at one of our campuses – and that’s earned it a special place in our heart. At various times, it’s been home to alumni from our Film Production, Acting for Film & Television, and Sound Design for Visual Media programs, to name but a few. In fact, 3D Animation & Visual Effects grad Scott Dewis was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his work on the pilot way back in 2008.
The show survived shaky ratings and the Friday night death slot en route to a really remarkable run. That’s worth celebrating – and tuning in for the season 5 premiere.
So to all the assistant directors, the boom operators, and the roto artists who helped make Fringe so great, we salute you!
And to the show, we’ll miss you lots. Thanks for being such a great neighbour all these years.
