Recap below – contains spoilers!
The episode kicked off with a slight twist on the usual Foundation Challenge. The previously eliminated contestants were back with a chance at redemption – with the winner given the opportunity to rejoin the show! The challenge was to create a makeup inspired by Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Nicole, with her Mariachi inspired look, was the winner. She was beyond excited to be able to return to the show and have another shot at winning it all.
The Spotlight Challenge this week was also unique. The makeup artists were to create an original movie monster makeup based on the artwork of young children, members of an arts organization called City Hearts, who had each drawn a picture of a monster. After a 30-minute consultation with their artists, the contestants were ready to bring these creations to life.
Sarah’s monster was particularly delicious – a goofy-looking monster covered in red velvet icing and sprinkles. Sarah was very happy with her creation this week – even if she did leave a lot to the last minute. It was nice to see her do so well given several disappointing weeks in a row.

After each artist presented their creations, the judges declared Sarah safe for the week. Not so lucky was Rod, who the judges felt kept recreating the same work each week. He was eliminated from the show and sent home. On top this week was Laura, whose work truly reflected the vision of her young artist.
Tune in next Tuesday for a Dr. Seuss-themed eighth episode!
